Adam Saks (b.1974, Copenhagen) lives and works in Berlin. Saks graduated from the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen and the Hochschule für Kunste, Berlin and is the receipient of numerous awards including Silkeborg Kunstmuseum, Artist Award, 2003, Niels Wessel Bagges Kunstfond, 2009 and the Kjell Nupen Memorial Grant, 2014.
Saks’ work is represented in such prestigious European institutional collections as the National Gallery of Art, Copenhangen, the ARoS / Aarhus Kunstmuseum, Aarhus, the Kunsthal Nord, Aarlborg, the Sønderjyllands Kunstmuseum, Tønder and the Statens Kunstfond, Copenhagen in Denmark, the Malmö Konstmuseum and the Nordiska Akvarellmuseet in Sweden, as well as the Kiasma Museum of Contemporary Art, and the EMMA / Espoo Museum of Modern Art in Finland, the LAC / Lieu d’Art Contemporain in France, the Kunstverein Reutlingen in Germany and the Zabludowicz Collection in London.
Selected recent solo institutional exhibitions include Konsthallen Pumphuset, Landskrona, Sweden, 2018, LAC / Lieu d’Art Contemporain, Narbonne, France, 2018, Kunstverein Reutlingen, Germany, 2017 (catalog) and Kunsthal Nord, Denmark, 2016 (catalog).
In 2020, Saks’ work is included in the exhibition Explorations at the Turku Art Museum, Finland. His work will be included in the large scale travelling survey exhibition of European art entitled Diversity United sponsored by the Foundation for Art and Culture e.V., Bonn, opening in Moscow and travelling to Berlin and Paris in 2021. His work will also be included in the exhibition Bed and Clock, Moon and Beach: Edvard Munch curated by Christian Malycha at Galerie Max Hetzler, Berlin.
